Its new model with the index H9 was presented by the brand Hongqi-a division of the FAW group, which is considered the oldest Korean automaker. The luxury sedan is relatively compact, but will compete with at least the Mercedes-Benz S-class.
Along the length of the Hongqi H9 (translated as "Red banner") is located approximately between the S-class and a variant of the Mercedes-Benz E-class with an extended wheelbase, also popular in China. At the same time, it is argued that with a distance between the axes of more than 3 meters, the novelty will provide rear passengers (and their role is planned for the most wealthy and high-ranking Chinese) quite a sufficient amount of space.
But in terms of power, the new product definitely loses to competitors. It is known that the sedan will be equipped with one of two turbocharged petrol engines. The base will be a two-liter unit with a return of 252 HP and 380 Nm of torque, the top-three-liter V6, developing 272 HP and 400 Nm.
The motors are paired with an automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. The fastest sedan will get the first "hundred" in a little less than 8 seconds.
Curiously, in Hongqi already flatly disown any connection exterior H9 with potential competitors from Britain-despite the obvious resemblance. It is claimed that despite the brand's collaboration with ex-Rolls-Royce designer Giles Taylor, the H9 Esterer was created long before he joined the Hongqi team and was made in accordance with the brand's modern stylistic canons.
The new product boasts air suspension, matrix optics, retractable door handles, 20-inch wheels, an abundance of leather, wood and chrome, as well as at least two large displays in the interior. The sedan will also have a four-seat version of the interior layout.
